The next day we decided to go a little further away from our rented house, and to do a different type of climbing, called multi-pitch climbing. In this, you typically do several "pitches" (surprise, given the name) to completely ascend a wall, without being lowered down. This way, when you get to the top you can just walk down the other side, but it means the climbs might last for several hours.
We were fortunate to have another beautiful day, and we had a bit of a trek to reach the foot of the climb. By the way, if you're into cooking and know the herb blend "Herbes de Provence", this entire region of France smells strongly like that in the countryside. ^^
At the base of the climb we had some fantastic views of the mediterranean...
...and a slightly daunting view of the climb ahead of us.
The climb was a lot of fun, with some challenging parts. I climbed all 8 pitches with one of my best friends, with us alternating who was leading.
I had my scariest moment of my climbing career thus far on this route, after I ended up about 8 meters off-route by accident, about 90 meters up and with a fall of 16 meters below me...
At the top, there were more spectacular views. I was very relieved to reach there, actually! After my previous scare, I was pretty shaken up and was not looking forward to leading the last part, but fortunately my friend accidentally did two pitches in one!
We didn't get to the top too soon, either. As we were walking down, we got to enjoy the sunset over les Calanques.
